About Us

Selah Care is a collaborative effort among many! Please take the time to view some details about our organization and the people behind it.

Our Staff

Our staff are carefully chosen to provide trusting relationships with our Members. Caregivers can be confident that their loved ones are receiving the best of care from well-qualified staff. We work hand in hand with the caregiver to provide a day that is conducive to the Members needs. We have the ability to tailor your loved ones day to fit their physical, emotional, and social needs.

It is a known fact that animals are unconditionally lovable and Marco has a real knack for putting a smile on everyone's face! Marco is a pure-bred Shit-Zsu, hypo-allergenic, does not shed, and excellent companionship for our family of Members.

Sharon comes to us with an immense sense of creativity and love for animals. Our Members are gravitated to her smile and the way she assists them in all they do. Sharon has lived in the area for a number of years and has three goats that we visit on a monthly field trip. Please visit our Photo Gallery to see our latest outing!

Alexandra Ortiz, Program Assistant

Alexandra brings with her an exuberant personality! Alex has a professional background with years of experience with the general public. However, it is her patience and compassion that makes her a vital part of Selah Care.

This is Annabelle! Annabelle is the daughter of Alexandra (above). Annabelle is two years old and has been with us for a year now. Her picture says it all! Her smile, mischievousness, sweetness, and cuteness are assets to Selah. Our Members love her to pieces! She assists her mother with the chores, leads the excercise circle (almost) and fills the room with love and laughter! We are truly blessed to have her!

Our House Cat...BOSCO

Bosco is an older male, declawed, with the sweetest and mildest temperament! Bosco does not care that we have two birds or a dog that is always trying to play with him. He loves to be held and just wants to "be", kind of like the rest of us:)

Then theres ANGEL! Angel is also an older male who is a bunch of love, nothing less. He comes when you call him and talks back when you talk to him!

A Note from...

Rev. Darlene Tranquilli, Founder/Executive Director

I am excited and blessed to be part of such an effort... to be able to provide a place where adults can come and spend the day with us, relax, socialize, have fun, garden, walk and talk, or even rest if they need to. It's just like coming home, accept it's with friends. Our days are filled with such excitement that our Members literally wake their caregivers up in the wee hours of the morning to ask them to bring them to the Center! It is only because of the wonderful staff, family and friends that we are able to provide such an awesome atmosphere and a safe and inviting place for all.

Our Programs

Selah Care has an array of programs and activities. We specialize in Alzheimer's/Dementia behaviors. This is just a portion of what we provide due to the fact that we tailor our days around our Member's needs...

FLEXIBLE MEMBERSHIPS

Selah Care offers flexible full-time, part-time and respite care. We are open Monday through Saturday and our hours are geared toward the working Caregiver. Membership is affordable and is a fraction of the cost of in-home care or assisted living facilities. Membership includes nutritious meals, snacks, and activities. Transportation to our facility can be arranged.

7:00AM

Our Members begin to arrive! Time for the first cup of coffee of the day.

8:30AM

We are still greeting Members as they arrive. Time for more coffee and a light breakfast.

9:00AM

Group Conversation around the kitchen table. At this time there are many conversations taking place so we try to re-group and take a look at the newspaper and discuss current events.

10:00AM

Range of Motion - This could be a walk outside, inside, stretches, balloon volleyball, fitness video.

11:00AM

Creative Time - This could be painting, building, gardening, cooking, working on their Life Books. So much to do!

12:00PM

Time to eat!

1:00PM

This time of day could mean different things to many members. It could be rest time or time to walk to the post office for the mail of the day.

2:00PM

Time for an activity where we can get everyone involved! Bowling is the true hit of the day, but sometimes we pull out the games or turn up the volume for some great oldies!

3:00PM

Time to wind-down and have some tea and a snack.

4:00PM

It begins... our caregivers begin to arrive and take our members home. Members find time to relax, chat, or take part in an activity of choice.

5:00PM

Time to relax from a very busy day. This is the perfect time to watch an episode of "I Love Raymond"!

6:00PM

The end of the day has arrived. Time to prepare for the next day and get some rest!
